Inspired by Jon Hart's Spoofed, the original inspiration of Stoked. I have crated a professional BLOG. While many of my friends have let their BLOGs dry up since they started them in college, or outright deleted them altogether, I have kept mine. Weather anti-establishment, or just keeping it real, I elect to keep it and continue to contribute to it.
Others have embraced BLOGing as a means of disseminating technical information relevant to their particular field.
I've decided to embrace the second approach as a means of educating and promoting discussion among others in my field, as well as a self promotion tool to advance my own career. So I have created www.StorageGuru.org. My primary motivation here is the large number of IT professionals I run into every day that know very little about data storage or how much it is advancing. My goal here is to educate my peers with a Data Storage 101 introduction, as well as introduce new advancements as the technology evolves.
Also inspired by Spoofed, I have included Google ads on this site, as an effort to offset the cost of creating and maintaining such a site. My goal is to offset the cost of my annual domain name registration and DNS fees. Software, hardware, and bandwidth will still be ponied up by me unless the site does exceptionally well.
I have no intention of shutting down Stoked, or contributing less. I think that it still serves a valid purpose, and BLOGing about life is so much more fun then writing about work.
